Sunday Speaker's Info

  • Our meetings are now a hybrid format, at the room & on Zoom.

  • If you are joining us on Zoom please note the following:

  • To prevent mishaps & delays, the Tech Team take care of unmuting / muting those on Zoom who have a role in the service. You will not be able unmute / mute yourself.

  • We enjoy Powerpoint / Keynote presentations. However, you won't be able to screen share unless you request this in advance (to prevent accidental screen shares!)

  • The Tech Team cannot speak to you directly as the hall is too noisy.

  •  Please arrive on Zoom by 10:05am at the latest.

  • We'll check that we can hear you (so the exhortation doesn't start with "can you hear me?" <= the Tech Team can't answer).

  • We'll put a number in front of your name (each microphone is numbered to help us find the appropriate mic quickly at the appropriate time).

  • We will make you "co-host" if you have told us that you have a presentation.
This will allow you to share your screen.

  • Although the service starts at 10:15am, we start the voluntary hymns at 10:10am.

  • We have an iPad in the library for brothers & sisters at the hall to come and chat to you before and after the service.

SHARING YOUR SCREEN

An impressive way of sharing your screen is to select the "Advanced" tab as below.

Then select "Slides as Virtual Background".

You'll get a pop-up box, allowing you to navigate and open your presentation file.

Your presentation will appear on the screen, with you on the bottom right of the screen in front of your slides.

This avoids showing the audience your powerpoint file / slides / presenter view etc - it takes you straight into the presentation.

Pre-recording on ZOOM

If you are not able to join us live you are welcome to pre-record your talk in advance. It's easy ...

  1. Login to Southport's Zoom (avoiding times when it's in use - see below)

Please make sure your mic is not muted & your video is on

  2. Give your talk

  3. If you want to start again at any point, say "Take 2" and start again.

  4. Log out of Zoom

  5. Email Rachael to let her know that your talk has been recorded, and in how many takes.
    [email protected]

Rachael will "top and tail" your talk (remove the start when you are settling down and the end when you leave) and remove any false starts for you. (Not on Saturdays)

  6. Let Rachael know if there are any accompanying readings / hymns for your talk.

  7. Let Rachael know if you would like a copy of your talk to use later.

ZOOM in use - avoid these times

We advertise the Bible Talk at 11:30am as we find we are more likely to get visitors in the mornings than at any other time of day.
