Welcome!

Thank you for visiting!  We would like to tell you about a slightly unusual idea to help you advertise your business.
My name is Rachael. Also pictured is Ruth. We are both members of Southport Christadelphians and have been for many years. Ruth asked me if I would like to host a Coffee Morning with her & we did, on Saturday 18 May 2019.

We had never organised a Coffee Morning before but we are both very organised people
and have been involved with organising many other types of event. We felt confident that
we could do a great job, despite the curveball of Rachael needing an operation two weeks before our event.

We wanted our fund raising Coffee Morning to be a little bit unusual in order to encourage people to come along.  The North West Air Ambulance charity was the charity we chose for our first event.  We had a lot of fun, a lot of visitors and we raised £600!

The hall is located at 51 Part St.  There is a disabled ramp, disabled toilet with baby changing facilities (plus loos for ladies & men of course!)

The refreshments were served in one of the front rooms.  At the end of the entrance hall is the very large main hall.

In the main hall there were games including Pin the Rotor on the Helicopter, Ping Pong (aim ping pong balls into cups), Name The Bear & Fling the Ring - to hoop a bottle, which was extremely popular!

There was also a stall selling lots of lovely gift-wrapped teddies (again,
very popular!)

People could get their tea, coffee and cakes in here for a donation.

Our Chinese Auction ...

Neither of us had ever heard of this before.  Apparently the name "Chinese Auction" was chosen to make it sound more exciting!  It was the "Silent Auction" we first came across - it works a bit like Ebay with bits of paper and bidding numbers.

The Chinese Auction works in the same way as a Silent Auction but without the bits of paper and bidding numbers. All guests have to do is buy raffle tickets and pop them in the box by the item they wanted to bid on.  It's much easier to organise and much easier for people to understand.

This is what helped us raise so much money.  Everything in this room was paid for in tokens including games.  Guests went to the cashier (so all the money was in one place, easier to keep track of and less float needed) and exchanged their cash for tokens. We also had a SumUp card reader to take card payments.  (Highly recommended - £19).

Our Next Event ... Winter Fair!

We had so much fun, that we obviously want to do it again!  The chosen charity this time is the British Heart Foundation.

The Winter Fair is planned for Saturday 30 November 2019, 10:30-12:30   This is what we propose:

You do not need to attend but you are very welcome to if you wish.

Donate a prize for charity to go in the Chinese Auction.
You may have some end-of-line stock or an exciting new product or service to launch.  Proceeds will go to the charity.

Donated prizes (product or service) for the Chinese Auction
Each lot has a value of around £20+.  If you donate a prize worth £20+, it will have it's own lot.  For prizes costing less than £20 it will be grouped together with another lot (e.g. we grouped a £10 Pizza Hut voucher with 2 cinema tickets, a £15 The Entertainer toy shop voucher with a box of Lego & Lego movie DVD, a cupcake stand with a £10 Churchtown deli voucher, wine chill bag & prosecco).

Bids on all lots (with one exception) were £2 a ticket.  Guests could bid as many times as they liked for the same item.
We had a donated star prize from Deeside Flight Simulators worth £120 - Helicopter Flight Simulator experience (they also have a Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 - it's a fabulous treat or gift!)  Funds raised go to the charity.

Advertising your product or service
You can provide leaflets or business cards that we can put next to your lot.
You will be included in the list of sponsors when we advertise the event.
All guests get a goody bag to take home with your website details in (as a sponsor of the charity event)
You are also welcome to attend and have a stand so that you can take Christmas orders - there is no charge for this.

Christmas!
Christmas is coming and people are looking for fantastic gift ideas. Our gift-wrapped teddies were very popular.
